This article exists because the question comes up constantly: can I order from a maker in another country, and what will customs cost me?
The short answer is that you cannot, and nothing does — by design, not by omission.
The shop ships inside the United States only
Every fixed-price product in the shop is checked out against a US shipping address. There is no international rate card, and an address outside the United States is rejected at checkout rather than quoted at a guess. If you are outside the US, the shop is not available to you yet.
Marketplace jobs are matched inside your own country
When you upload a file and get quotes, your job is only shown to verified makers in your own country. A job posted in the United Kingdom is visible to UK makers; a job posted in Canada goes to Canadian makers. We run these country lanes separately, each with its own currency and its own maker pool.
The practical consequences:
- The print is made near you, which is why lead times are short.
- You will not see a cheaper quote from overseas, because overseas makers never see your job.
- A maker cannot ship you a job from another country, even if you both want that.
So: customs, duties, VAT?
None of it applies. Because no shipment leaves the country it was printed in:
- there is no customs declaration to fill in,
- there are no import duties to pay on delivery,
- there is no clearance hold that can add days to your delivery window,
- and no carrier will ever contact you asking for a duty payment on a 3D Hub Plus order.
If anyone contacts you asking for a customs or duty payment on an order placed here, it is not from us. Do not pay it, and report the message from your order page.
Sales tax
Sales tax is added at checkout where we are registered to collect it, shown as a separate line rather than folded into the price. That is a domestic tax, not an import charge.
Delivery windows
Because everything is domestic, plan on 2–5 business days in transit after the package ships, on top of production time. There is no customs buffer to add.
What we would need before this changes
Shipping across borders means published international rate bands, customs paperwork on every label, and duty handling — none of which exists in the platform today. We would rather say so plainly than quote you a delivery window we cannot hold.
Returns and refunds
Refunds work the same as any other order: catalog orders refund in full at any status, and marketplace orders are covered by the payment hold until you confirm delivery. See the buyer-protection and refund-policy articles for the detail.
